Last week saw the launch of Dubai Customs’ “Human Resource and Professional Development Specialist Training’’, developed in collaboration with CIPD, the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. The programme will help HR professionals explore good practices in the field of modern human resource management and develop the confidence and knowledge needed to effectively contribute to organisational performance. 

Aligned with the CIPD’s new Profession Map, which sets the international standards for HR, the programme covers the essential strategic and practical aspects of HR business partnering and delves into specialist areas of the profession, from learning & development to performance management. The programme aims to establish a solid base of HR teams capable of carrying out their responsibilities with professionalism and skill.

Commenting on the launch of the programme, Mohammad Alghaffari, Director of Human Resources Department at Dubai Customs, says: “This programme is part of a series of innovative solutions implemented to assist the HR department achieve its strategic objectives, in line with Dubai Customs strategy, Dubai’s Vision 2021 and the UAE Centennial 2071 plan. We seek to align with global best practices and harness all the tools and technology available to build capability and disseminate a culture of innovation”.

On his part, Ramy Bayyour, General Manager for the Middle East at the CIPD, said “We are delighted to add Dubai Customs to our growing list of employers committed to developing and professionalising their HR capability in the region. With the participation of over 54 staff members from the Department of Human Resources, the initiative reinforces Dubai Customs’ commitment to professionalising its HR function – in line with the Emirate of Dubai’s quest towards achieving excellence and sustainable development.
