What made you decide to undertake the Experience Assessment route to CIPD membership
I believed I had the relevant experience to get the membership and felt this was a good way to assess it through a professional reputed organisation.
Is there anything about the Experience Assessment process that you particularly liked or found particularly challenging?
I loved the case study as that really challenges you as a professional. It brings out all your work experience and knowledge to the fore front to be able to deal with a very real life scenario.
It helps you apply your work experience to a scenario, it challenges you in areas you may not be actively working on. It is a very powerful way of assessing the overall impact of HR on the business and organisation.
What would you say are the benefits of undertaking Experience Assessment?
It helps you understand the core competencies required to be successful in the role. It is a medium to showcase the work you have done over the years and get a professional viewpoint on where you excel. When you list examples under these competencies it makes you appreciate the skills HR professionals need to display. It helped me tremendously to understand my areas of improvement which I then have worked on using the CPD tool.
What has been the impact for you of successfully completing your Experience Assessment?
Besides the confidence and reassurance you get in your ability it also helps you identify areas of improvement. I have since then worked on a CPD plan for myself and learnt various new things. Having an added qualification gives you more credibility within the origanisation.
